2010 National Corvette Homecoming
Bowling Green, KY
July 17-18
Unusual
license plate.
NCH
CEO Joe Pruitt welcomes the C-1's as they enter the show area.
This '62 was in
competition and got lots of appreciative looks.
This
'60 had a 5 year frame-off from 1998 to 2003.
Also
competing were these red C-1's. The '60 was an unrestored original.
This
red '62 had history. It is owned by a SACC member, it had deteriorated for
7 years sitting outside. It was then sold, had a frame-off lasting 4
years. It has made it's presence known at several local shows, and Richard
and Barbara Gandy are very proud of their hard work.
SACC
Founding Treasurer Larry Richter would conduct a seminar later in the day.
Here he is helping Richard Gandy with restoration questions.
This
pristine red '54 was featured in the Sloan Convention Center lobby. It
made it through the doors, but not by much.
The car was from Nashville.
SACC
member Charles Buchholz acquired this black/silver '60 in 1968 at an Ohio
dealership. It had a body-off from 1990 to 1998, and he did all the work
with exception of the paint.
It has been in parades carrying queens, VIP's, and politicians.
Charles is retired from Ford.
Early
1954 in the Show 'n Shine.
SACC
Treasurer Bill Herron's '57 is third in line for judging.
Here's
a view of his '57 from the rear.
Here's
the outdoor show 'n shine area.
Red/White
''61 from Kentucky.
Not
all the cars in the For Sale area were full size.
Al
Knoch's installation crew were there working on a top for a black '62.
Retired
GM higher-up Joe Spielman gave a talk on Corvette news and happenings.
SACC
and Central Great Rivers Chapter member Jim Semanski brought this '81 for sale.
SACC
President Max Brockhouse (L) and Founding Treasurer Larry Richter conducted a
session on the Solid Axle Corvette Club.
I loved this
license plate.
Working
the Registration Booth was Vera Pruitt.
NCH
CEO Joe Pruitt gave instructions to the celebrity judges.
SACC
President Max Brockhouse and SACC Founding Treasurer Larry Richter were
presented a certificate by Joe Pruitt awarding them the title of Kentucky
Colonel By the Governor of Kentucky, Steve Beshear.
It
keeps getting better. Pres. Max Brockhouse was given the Bowling Green Key
to the City by Mayor Elaine Walker.
Your
tireless website dude somehow got to be a celebrity judge. I selected this
'57.
Not many '57's have a 5 speed.
And
you had to like this...a 50th birthday cake on this '60.
I
know that this is the Solid Axle Corvette Club website and this is not a solid
axle, but how many pink Corvettes do you see every day?
Saturday
capped off with a road tour through the suburbs and countryside. Here Joe
Pruitt calls a drivers meeting.
There
were a lot of cars in the road tour. You can see the long line of cars in
front of us, and there were lots of cars behind us.
I had to head home early Sunday morning, there were lots more things planned, but it takes a few minutes to go over 400 miles home. Now you pretty much know what I saw at the show. The show was well planned and the weather wasn't all that hot, in spite of the fact that it was July in Kentucky. You might want to check the shows' website, www.nationalcorvettehomecoming.com and put the Homecoming on your calendar for next year. I am.
