Corvette Classic, Bloomington, Illinois,
June 17-19-2005

This year's Corvette Classic was held
at the Crossroads Center on the west
side of Bloomington. This is the main
headquarters building with the "For Sale"
area right in front.

This is the inside of the headquarters
building, which was used for vendors
as well as show operations. Here is
Dennis and Paula Gunning from Mid
America Motorworks. Dennis did the
restoration on the '54 at the museum
on the grounds at Mid-America, but
here they did retail operations. They
were very friendly as always and they
did a great job.

Also at the headquarters building they
had many drawings. Here is Gary
Wood, director, (L), and Jim Stuckey (R),
of 3D Sound, calling numbers for lucky
winners.

Driving his beautiful solid axle
car all the way from Pinckneyville, IL
was SACC member and Central
Great Rivers Chapter member
Dennis Fontana.
Here's
a view of the show area.
It was shine n' show.

Gordon Killebrew was present
and conducted seminars both
in a classroom setting...

...and hands on! Here's Gordon
re-aligning the side glass on my
'93. It is sooooooo much better
now!

Here we are getting lined up for the road
tour. We went 43 miles, some of it on
Old Rt. 66. Does it get any cooler
than driving your Vette on Rt. 66?

At the other end of the 43 miles was Furrow
Winery. They had a nice dinner for the
participants, plenty of wine, and...

...great music. Live and rockin' was
the Central Illinois band "Walrus Gumbo."
They covered some great hits, and the
dancers couldn't get out of their chairs
fast enough.
Your
tireless web-site editor tries to
hob-nob with the big shots, and this was
no exception. Here is Event Manager
Gary Wood (L) and yours truly Doc
Hollada (R). Gary was pleased that
solid axles participated in a big way, and with
the fact that there were participants from
farther away than ever before. You can
tell that this guy truly loves corvettes.
Someone came through the show area
in one of those snake-cars, and Gary had to
be physically restrained from running out
there with a sledge hammer.
Well, that's a short pictorial run-down of the 2nd annual
Corvette Classic, held in
Bloomington, Illinois. Everyone I talked to had a great time. I will
definitely save space on my calendar
for this event next year. Maybe you should consider attending next time if
you missed it this year.
