FALL 2007 SWAPFEST

Your website editor went to the Fall Swapfest at Effingham, Illinois, not for personal enjoyment, but
to bring you up to date on some of what's going on in the Corvette hobby.  Ok, ok, it was mostly for
personal enjoyment.  The picture above is Tony Larson, SACC and Central Great Rivers Chapter
member.  He related that he arrived on the grounds first and got vendor spot number 1.  I had a great
visit with Tony.

October 13, 2007, let's go to Mid America's
Swapfest, right on the campus of Mid
America Motorworks.  The swap meet
opened at 8 AM and there to look for bargains 
were Mid America CEO Mike Yager and 
1st lady Laurie Yager.  This event is growing
every year, in fact, they had to move the 
action to the north side of the property
to better accommodate the vendors
and the low speed autocross competitors.

Besides parts there were parts still in
combination.

It's not only Vettes, but Mid America
has parts for VW's.  Here's a pink
bug that someone was parting with.
It was in excellent shape.

This is the line-up to participate in the
autocross.  This was the 2nd autocross
competition held, and there were at
least five times the number of
participants.

And here's an action shot of a C-5 competing
against father time.

What better way to spend a Saturday than with Corvette friends at a swap meet with an
autocross.  Mid America Motorworks rolled out the welcome mat; there were items on discount
in a sale area, there was 10% off for the catalog items, there was a sale area with discontinued
items, there were cars for sale, and of course there were vendors with parts.  One vendor even had
two vintage Fender guitars in addition to the auto parts.  Where was he from? Could you guess? Nashville, TN.
