2006 BLOOMINGTON GOLD
2006
Bloomington Gold was right up there at the top. Here you see a pair of
solid axles waiting for a new garage to reside in. The "For
Sale" area had several C-1's.
The Expo
building had the best environment
for shoppers and vendors alike. If you will
look through the Mid-America desk, you will
see what a good site we had for the SACC
merchandise booth - right next to a primo
merchandiser, Mid-America Motorworks.
And
here is the booth personnel. L to R: a
happy customer, Joe Pruitt, owner and CEO of
the National Corvette Homecoming in
Bowling Green, KY. We shared the booth with Joe, (which means we
shared expenses, saved $), Gerri Hollada, Tom Cobb, Mary Rae Brockhouse, Bob
Pinckney, and Max
Brockhouse. Your tireless web editor worked
the booth when forced to, but otherwise
I was out gathering news. (goofing off.)
Not every visitor
to the SACC
merchandise booth was what you would
call ordinary.
Great
Lakes Chapter President Chuck
Stika stopped by the merchandise
booth. Chatting are Chuck, Gerri
Hollada, and Mary Rae Brockshouse.
They
didn't want you to get bored.
Performing live music was the
Chi-Town Stompers.
Waiting
in the auction area was this
Cascade Green.
I
ran into Jim Hartford who brought his
Honduras Maroon '62. He has owned this car for over 20 years, still loves
it.
Also
ran into Darrell Jordan, who is selling his
white '62 that he has owned for 22 years.
While
I was walking around on the golf course
(politicking) I heard a "CRACK" and when I
turned around I saw that a C3 had customized this fence post, and the force
cracked the rail. I only had a quick look at the C3, because he left
hurriedly, but it didn't look to be damaged
all that much.
The
'56's were the featured guests. Here is
our own Jeff Van Hooser with his Aztec
Copper ride. Jeff led the Road Tour.
Good going, Jeff.
The
Special Collection featured
Survivors. Here is Warren and Linda
Hagenkotter with their classy 1955.
Warren and Linda are long time SACC
members. They have owned this car
over 20 years, it is the oldest Benchmark
car in existence.
This
was the other C-1 in the Special
Collection. This red '61 is owned by
Jim and Mary Wilson. The convertible
top has not been down since 1969.
I ran into Mike
Yager, chief cheerleader of
Mid-America Motorworks, and I coaxed him
into the driver's seat of this show-stopper at the
SEMA convention this year in Las Vegas.
Mid-America did the interior and what a
statement they made. It has studio quality
sound, LCD video screen, strobes, it is a
way too cool C-5, but the interior really makes
this car work. Hat's off to Mid-America.
The
Great Lakes Chapter did the leg
work and arranged for us to have
special parking at the Club area.
The
Great Lakes Chapter held a pow-wow
in the Chapter area.
Just
because it got dark doesn't mean the party was over. The Great Lakes
Chapter met for
a wonderful dinner at the Mill Race Inn in nearby
Geneva, Illinois...
And
here are some of the hungry
diners. This is a fine restaurant
and no one went away hungry
or thirsty.
Well, that's about all the pictures I took. There was lots
more going on. I think the management of
Bloomington Gold show solved the traffic problem that plagued the main street
area last year. The show was
great, and I don't think anyone was disappointed.
